Simpsons, Hayao Miyazaki & Studio Ghibli
The Simpsons is curious show. The longest running American sitcom in history (25 seasons long), its relevancy and quality dropped off hard after season 10, but in recent years it’s made a bit of a comeback. And certainly they’ve been more relevant than ever in the movie world with recent impressive tributes like the “Treehouse of Horror XXIV” opener recently directed by Guillermo del Toro. Well, they’re at it again.

Wolf Of Wall Street Leonardo DiCaprio Jonah Hill Q-Tip
It looks like that party hasn't stopped for Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill following "The Wolf of Wall Street." The pair have clearly hit it off, and while we'll wait to see if they team up on the big screen again, for now they are working together on a TV project that's inspired by one of the most influential hip-hop artists of our generation.

Zoe Saldana
After their live rendition of “The Sound of Music” proved to be a ratings hit last month, NBC hopes their next remake of a classic ‘60s Hollywood film can be just as successful. The network first announced a “Rosemary’s Baby” remake last July, but we hadn’t heard much about it until Agnieszka Holland (“Europa, Europa”) signed on as director a few weeks ago. Now, it seems they have found their Rosemary, and luckily, it’s not Carrie Underwood.

After the three-hour thematic tone poem that was “Cloud Atlas," you could imagine the Wachowskis were close to capping off the “everyone is connected” angle, but in their subsequent shift to television it seems they’ve only begun. Their project “Sense8” first burst onto our radars in 2012, with "Babylon 5" creator J. Michael Straczynski attached and a natural veil of secrecy surrounding it. But after Netflix agreed to release the 10-episode series to its subscribers, we’ve finally got some concrete hints of what to expect later this year.

The Strain
While there will be no shortage of blockbusters this summer to entice you at the multiplex, but, as always, television will be offering some reasons to stay home instead. And though Guillermo del Toro is know for bringing it on the big screen, the prospect of him being able to tell a meaty, thrilling story across the length of a TV series has lots of potential, and that's one of the reasons we'll be tuning into "The Strain."

True Detective
"This is a world where nothing is solved," Matthew McConaughey's Rust Cohle declares in this new trailer for "True Detective." And it might seem an odd choice of words for a series built around a mystery that spans years, also ensnaring fellow detective Martin Hart (Woody Harrelson), but that's just a jumping off point. Written by Nic Pizzolatto, and directed by Cary Fukunaga ("Sin Nombre," "Jane Eyre") the series will use a serious crime to deal with themes of death and darkness.

Fargo
While the idea of trying a new spin on the old classic that is the Coen Brothers' "Fargo" might seem like a crass idea, the upcoming FX TV series isn't the first time it's been attempted. About a decade ago, a spinoff was mounted starring Edie Falco and directed by Kathy Bates (!). It never went anywhere, but that version didn't involve the Coens. This time, the director siblings are producing, and the project not only has a firm green light, it's coming to a small screen near you very soon.

The Red Road
While HBO and AMC tend to get all the Golden Age Of TV glory, it might be time to start including Sundance Channel in the mix. Last year's "Top Of The Lake" was one of the best things we saw on either the big or small screen, and if the first teaser for "The Red Road" is anything to go by, it's going to be another fascinating, layered drama. And hell, we'll be watching simply because James Gray directed the first episode of the six episode long season.
