Given that there's original content on streaming services Amazon Prime, Hulu and Netflix, it was only a matter of time before the game consoles got in on the action. Today during an overlong and somewhat confusing press conference for the new Xbox system (unimaginatively dubbed Xbox One,) it was announced that Steven Spielberg would be exec-producing an original television series for Xbox's Xbox Live streaming service based on the phenomenally popular series of "Halo" videogames. The series will be produced in conjunction with game studio 343 Studios.

Clear History
“Adventureland” director Greg Mottola has made himself something of a second home on television. He spent the early part of the new millennium directing episodes of shows like “Undeclared” and “Arrested Development,” and last year he directed a few episodes of HBO series “The Newsroom.” For his next film, he’s sticking with the legendary cable network, delivering the comedy “Clear History,” and a teaser for the film has arrived online.

"Game of Thrones" has two things on its mind this week: love makin' and procreatin', and the result is an episode that's operating at a very different speed than the rest of the season. We barely see any of our regulars both old and new, and got to see a lot more of Danaerys Targaryen (like, literally A LOT) and spend some time celebrating the kickoff of wedding season in Westeros. It's once again directed by the excellent Michelle MacLaren, who helmed last week's episode, and really has an eye for staging and an ability to play with pace and focus, resting on characters for an extended period of time, rather than hopping around, which serves the latter half of this season well (also sexy time. And ass). So let's pour some wine and raise a toast to Episode 8, "Second Sons."

Trailers for the networks' fall shows are upon us (more on that later today), and here's a daring direction for a new show: a remake of a Scandinavian crime drama! No but really, FX's “The Bridge,” a trailer for which just arrived on Indiewire, looks interesting: a police procedural featuring the police of two different countries working on the same case, after a body turns up at a Texan border crossing between the US and Mexico.

You would think with two movies coming this year -- "Machete Kills" and "Sin City: A Dame To Kill For" -- that would be more than enough on Robert Rodriguez's plate. But that would be to misunderstand the work ethic of the filmmaker, who always seems to be juggling a half dozen different things at any given moment, so even while he's got two features arriving within a month of each other, he's already looking toward the small screen for yet another venture.

Last year, Alec Baldwin and director James Toback hit the Croisette, not to premiere a movie, but to try and raise financing for one. They brought along some cameras to help document the effort for what would ultimately become the documentary, "Seduced And Abandoned," an insider's inside look at the fickle game of film financing and the movie biz in general. Now they're back a year later in Cannes with the finished product, set to unveil in a special screening next weekend, but what is this whole thing all about?

After a protracted period trying to get a movie off the ground, only for it to stall and falter for a variety of reason, Fox has finally found a way to revive "24," and sometimes the best solution is also the easiest one: they're bringing it back to TV. That's right, after rumors started burbling late last week that Jack Bauer might be returning to kick ass once again, today the studio has confirmed that more white knuckle thrills are in the cards.
