How I Met Your Mother
It took a few years, but actor Peter Facinelli (“Twilight” series) will finally see his Whitey Bulger project get off the ground. Facinelli was originally on board to produce a film adaptation of “Street Soldier: My Life as an Enforcer For Whitey Bulger and the Boston Irish Mob,” which was written by Edward MacKenzie and Phyllis Karas, but now Fox is looking to turn the project into a TV series.

For those of you who were desperate for a cinematic, widescreen translation of the ugly misogyny, easy jabs at Hollywood and unnecessary star cameos of HBO's bafflingly popular series "Entourage," well, you're in luck. After years of crawling towards cinemas, the "Entourage" movie that nobody is asking for is finally happening, at least according to the series' creator (and film's writer/director) Doug Ellin. Ellison tweeted "It's a go." Then slammed a Red Bull and vodka and yelled at his assistant.

Earlier this month, producer Rick Cleveland, speaking at the Vancouver International Film Festival, caused a bit of a minor stir when he suggested that Netflix's award-winning political series “House of Cards" wasn't going to last past a second season. Why? He claimed stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright liked making movies too much to stay locked into a TV schedule. But it turns out, Cleveland was hardly an authority to speak on behalf of the show.

So "The Counselor" opened this weekend and flopped fairly hard, but don't worry about Ridley Scott. Not only is he already in production on his Bible movie "Exodus," as per usual, he's got about a half billion projects coming up with his name stamped on them as an executive producer. And this one certainly has us a bit curious.

A moody procedural, starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, and directed by Cary Fukunaga ("Sin Nombre," "Jane Eyre") for HBO—that should pretty much explain why this is probably one of our most eagerly anticipated shows of 2014. But the fact that the trailers and teasers so far have looked even better than we could've dreamed is only making his an even more exciting prospect. And once again HBO has dropped yet another teaser, and damn, if this doesn't look like a knockout.

Boardwalk Empire, Season 4
Yes, “Boardwalk Empire” takes a long time to coalesce, but we’ll admit, when its early chess piece moves begin to fall into place, and you can see the forest for the trees on the board, boy does it get good. In tonight’s absorbing episode, Nucky Thompson’s (Steve Buscemi) latest booze shipment from Florida arrives with some unexpected cargo. It’s Sally Wheet (Patricia Arquette), Nucky’s lady in the Sunshine State who is overseeing the business. She's the mercurial firecracker who got into a fistfight with Nuck and then made love to him in the season's sixth episode, “North Star.” Arriving unannounced, she throws Nucky for a bit of a loop. And what’s more, she’s hard to pin down and seems to be in no mood to pick up where Nucky and her last left off. In fact, Atlantic City underling gangster Mickey Doyle (Paul Sparks) appears to be taking a shine to her, and she doesn’t seem to mind the attention. Nucky doesn’t really know where he stands and he doesn’t like it. Several threads simmering all season come to a boil tonight.

Murder She Wrote Octavia Spencer
It seems these days, any onscreen cop or investigator is afflicted with some kind of problem. Whether it's a troubled marriage, various anxieties, clinically recognized illnesses—the breed of crimesolvers on the small screen have issues. Which is why we're not entirely against the idea of a "Murder, She Wrote" reboot. Granted, whoever steps into the massive shoes left behind by Angela Lansbury has a big role to fill, but damn if CBS hasn't made a pretty great choice.

Arrested Development, Netflix series
Embedded within its many in-jokes, visual cues, and constantly shifting timeline, the fourth season of “Arrested Development” firmly carried on the series' excellent use of original songs and score composed by David Schwartz (“Deadwood”, “Northern Exposure”). Songs like “It Ain't Easy Being White” and this latest season's “Fantastic Four Medley” and “Get Away” have had fans clamoring for an official soundtrack for years, and now a release date has been announced, along with a possible distribution option for the “Arrested Development” film.

With two Oscars, two Emmys, five Golden Globes and countless other accolades crowding her mantle, it's safe to say that there isn't much left that veteran Jessica Lange has to conquer. And while most actresses her age would kill to have the kind of exposure and acclaim she's received thanks to her meaty role in the FX series "American Horror Story," for Lange it seems it's just one stop on a gradual slowdown, with retirement looming not to far on the horizon.

Almost Human Karl Urban
Named as one of our 10 Most Promising Network Shows For Fall 2013, we have to admit a certain curiosity about the J.J. Abrams-produced "Almost Human" based on the premise alone. That, and it has the potential to give us a weekly serving of Karl Urban in full on snark mode, which we wouldn't complain about either.
