Remember Marvel’s Power Pack? Well, this writer doesn’t, but they were one of the second tier Marvel properties being mooted for a small-budget big-screen adaptation a couple years ago. They were among characters like Luke Cage, Dr. Strange, Iron Fist, et al. (none of which have yet come to pass), but when the rumor first circled, we highlighted Power Pack as the property that likely had the most crossover appeal thanks to its pre-teen X-Men style set-up.

Having a $500 million dollar hit with "Ted," leading Fox's animation domination with "Family Guy," and set to host the Oscars in February, things are going pretty well for Seth MacFarlane. And he's not wasting any time in striking while the iron is hot, as he's lining up his next movie outing, and no, it's not going to be the feature version of his hit show that he recently talked about.

At the end of July, AMC closed the curtain on "The Killing" after a disappointing second season that saw flagging viewership and overall criticism for an arc that routinely saw the narrative spin its wheels. But, less than a month later, word emerged that both Netflix and DirecTV came calling, looking to team up with Fox TV Studios to revive the show. Then, a few weeks ago, AMC was back in the game, with reports that they might team with Netflix to make the third season happen. And well, for fans of the show, the good news is that the show is definitely coming back.

I'm not a fantasy fiction buff by any stretch, but in 2004 it was hard to ignore the mammoth accomplishment of Susanna Clarke's "Jonathan Strange And Mr. Norrell." A wildly original and inventive epic, running nearly 800 pages, the work was one of the few to crossover to the mainstream, becoming a critical darling and a best-seller. Its dazzling weaving together of history, magic, romance and more (combined with David Foster Wallace style footnotes) made it one of the most unique reading experiences in a long time. It would no doubt be a difficult text to adapt, but BBC is going to give it a try.
