Forget vampires and zombies...the hottest new trend? Presidents. Okay, so it's not quite a full-on phenomenon yet, but clearly we're in a bit of moment where the nation's founders are getting their due on the big screen. Of course, Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln" is now speechifying in theaters across the country and if NBC has its way, each week you'll get the first President of the United States Of America piped into your home.

There’s been a trend as of late of directors attaching themselves to more projects than they can conceivably handle, and Guillermo del Toro is the poster boy of this epidemic. While next year’s “Pacific Rim” will be his first directorial outing in nearly five years, it hasn’t been for lack of trying (of course you'll remember he was long attached to helm "The Hobbit" but bailed as it continued to stall due to MGM's financial woes). The “Hellboy” helmer is now talking up two more projects that he intends to tackle in the future.

This summer, Aaron Sorkin dropped his highly anticiapted HBO series "The Newsroom," and to quote Brian Williams: "That happened." Unabashedly and at times embarassingly preachy, it was also tremendously compelling as uneven as it was, becoming the show many loved to hate to watch. But HBO has faith Sorkin and co. can turn it around, renewing it for a second season, and some new faces are coming along to possibly irritate the hell out of you.

With their moves to not only bring back “Arrested Development” but to also debut David Fincher's "House Of Cards," there should be no doubt that Netflix wants to take on the television industry at large and position themselves as a viable alternative to the networks. The streaming company is reportedly nearing a deal with AMC to bring back the much-maligned “The Killing” for a third-season.

"I'm a movie star now, bitch," "Breaking Bad" star Aaron Paul said into his cellphone to HBO, before driving his Ferarri into the Malibu sunset. Okay, that probably didn't happen, but with the actor now toplining the franchise ready "Need For Speed," it seems the allure of the television -- no matter how strong the quality of the project -- is perhaps losing its sheen. Even though it was reported to have a pilot order this summer, it seems HBO's "The Missionary" has had to find a new lead, and indeed they have.
