As "21 Jump Street" keeps moving forward toward its production start next year with Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum in the lead roles, the biggest wishlist hopeful/question surrounding the film is if Johnny Depp would make a cameo appearance in the film version of the television show that helped launch his career. Turns out, he'd be game but no one has asked him. Yet.

Shooting On 'Spider-Man' Starts In 2 WeeksBummer. Once the rising Emma Stone signed on for "Spider-Man" we sort of figured this would happen but held out a glimmer of hope that with "21 Jump Street" shooting early-ish next year (filming was pushed back slightly on the film), somehow she would be able to do both. But alas, Emma Stone will not be co-starring with Jonah Hill in "21 Jump Street."

While In Early Stages, Picture Is Being Envisioned As "Back To Roots" '60s-Set Film2011 is shaping up to be a banner year for director Steven Soderbergh and therefore likely a big one for Warner Bros. too. The prolific filmmaker is planning on releasing his latest spy-based action thriller "Haywire" next spring, he's currently shooting the virus thriller "Contagion" for an already-planned October 21, 2011 release date (Matt Damon, Kate Winslet and Gwyneth Paltrow are just a few of the A-list names, but no, it won't be in 3D), and he's just announced his latest project, the big screen version of “The Man From U.N.C.L.E" for the aforementioned WB.

The big screen version of "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." is one of those projects that has been knocking around for years that has never made it in front of cameras. It has attracted a variety of talent over time including Quentin Tarantino (really), Matthew Vaughan with Daniel Craig attached, David Dobkin and as recently as this summer, Doug Liman (who ended up turning it down). We can't say we were ever really interested in the project. Until now.

A Career Move Now Known As 'Doing A Wahlberg'It feels like only a few weeks since we were expressing bafflement at the success of the career of Keanu-esque golem Channing Tatum, who's already worked with Michael Mann, Steven Soderbergh and Kevin Macdonald, and been praised by the likes of Nicolas Winding Refn. So we won't dwell on it here. Instead, we'd like to praise the guy for a second, because, like fellow heartthrobs Joseph Gordon-Levitt and James Franco, you can certainly say that it's hard to predict the actor's next move.
