Running a studio is a lot like playing chess. You really have to know how to utilize your pieces and position them for success, but also be aware of what the opposition is up to. Sometimes you have to sacrifice a pawn in order to make a bigger score, and sometimes gambles don't pay off. As such, people suspected that Universal was exposing a weakness when they yanked "The Thing" from its April release date for reshoots.

Comedy Is Untitled, Details Remain Under Wraps For NowYou could say Judd Apatow is slipping in his mainstream appeal. 2009's "Funny People" grossed $71 million worldwide, while 2008's "Knocked Up" cumed $219 million globally and 2005's "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" totaled $177 million the world round. That said, you could also say he's growing creatively as he is tackling more mature subjects now, or at least did with the Adam Sandler-led cancer comedy.
