From the outside, 20th Century Fox's comedy "The Watch" seems to have its cup runneth over with the talent at its disposal. The film stars the quartet of Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill and celebrated British director/writer/comedian Richard Ayoade (director of “Submarine”). It's directed by Akiva Schaffer, the talented young filmmaker behind SNL's Digital Shorts -- arguably the only thing keeping the show relevant for the last five years -- and the screenwriters are "Superbad" and "Pineapple Express" scribes Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. And with appearances by Will Forte, Billy Crudup, a quick Lonely Island group cameo and more, everything seems to be stacked in this comedy’s favor. But try as they might, this collective wattage of talented funny people are lost within a lifeless, tepid and uninspired comedy.

Vince Vaughn Wants To Be 'The Risk Agent'

Vince Vaughn is really eager to switch up his usual smart mouthed comedy thing for something with a bit more grit. Just last week it was revealed he had lined up "Gunslingers," an action adventure flick from "Braveheart" writer Randall Wallace. And earlier this year, he was linked to "Lucky Strike" with Tony Scott of all people. And now comes another movie that will potentially see him flexing some kind of acting muscles we've rarely seen from the guy who turned the word "earmuffs" into an instantly quotable piece of dialogue.

For the most part, Vince Vaughn hasn't deviated all that often from the comedic persona which is his bread and butter, and why should he? He has it down cold, it pays the bills and it keeps his calendar busy. But it looks like the "The Cell" and "Psycho" actor is readying something a little bit different.

Frankly, you could shoot Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn doing their taxes, then mowing the lawn and having a nap, and we'd probably watch it and love it. Those dudes crack us up ("Wedding Crashers" rules, "Starsky & Hutch" is pretty hilarious) so thank God for Shawn Levy (wow, never thought we'd type that out) for bringing them together again in "The Internship." And he's not skimping on the supporting cast either.

Let's look at this as the good, the bad and the ugly. Max Minghella, the son of the late Anthony Minghella, is in early negotiations to join the 20th Century Fox comedy, "The Internship." The good: it's a film written by Vince Vaughn, and it reunites Vaughn with his "Wedding Crashers" co-star Owen Wilson. The bad: Neither of them have been as good since that now undisputed modern comedy classic film arrived in 2005 (Though Vaughn's "The Break-Up" is very underrated). The relatively ugly (or to be fair, slightly unfortunate): It's directed by Shawn Levy, the rather toothless filmmaker behind MOR hits like “Just Married,” “Cheaper By The Dozen” the 2006 version of “The Pink Panther” whose career unexpectedly took off after his back to back “Night Of The Museum” films became major hits (he then helmed "Date Night" and "Real Steel").

It was just yesterday that we were wondering when 20th Century Fox was going to get the marketing ball rolling on "The Watch," the comedy starring Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill and Richard Ayoade. The tragic killing of Trayvon Martin made selling a movie about a rogue neighborhood watch crew a bit difficult for the studio, but this healthy, lengthy international trailer for the movie shows they could have a comic hit on their hands.

Well, this is moving along much faster than we had anticipated. Only a couple of weeks ago it was announced that DreamWorks acquired the rights to Ken Scott’s French-Canadian hit comedy “Starbuck,” with plans to remake it with Scott writing and directing all over again. Well, the movie now has a big star attached.

Partly due to the Trayvon Martin case and also because their hands are already full with "Prometheus," which comes out a month before, Fox has been kind of quiet on "Neighborhood Watch." Until now. They've dropped a foul-mouthed and pretty fucking hilarious red band trailer for the movie that suddenly has put this one on our radar. And oh, by the way, it's now called "The Watch."

Vince Vaughn To Lead Universal's Big Screen Reboot Of 'The Rockford Files'

While Sony is celebrating the success of "21 Jump Street" and the rest of Hollywood dusts off various TV reboots they've had sitting in drawers, for Vince Vaughn, he's been there and done that already. In 2004 he teamed with Owen Wilson and director Todd Phillips for "Starsky & Hutch" carrying the film to over $170 million worldwide, which is not a bad chunk of change at all. And it looks like Universal are hoping the actor can work the same magic on a property they have been developing.

After directing last year's "Real Steel," it looked like director Shawn Levy was heading back home to 20th Century Fox to direct either an adaptation of "Frankenstein" or, possibly, a remake "Fantastic Voyage." As of September of last year, Levy said that both projects were still "possibilities," but in February, it looked like Levy would instead return to comedy (or perhaps he never left depending on how you feel about "Real Steel") with "The Internship," which would reunite "Wedding Crashers" actors Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson. With the dust settled, Levy is officially helming "The Internship."
