While Terrence Malick has become somewhat known for cutting people out of his movies (just yesterday we learned Michael Shannon was on the chopping block for "To The Wonder," and we have a whole feature devoted to actors who got snipped), in one case he's going back and putting footage back into a movie. You might remember that two years ago, cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki revealed that Malick went back to the 300 plus miles of footage he shot for "The Tree Of Life" with plans for a six hour version of the movie. And while the running time is yet to be determined, and we haven't really heard anything about it since, it does seem that Malick is preparing a longer cut of the movie.

Terrence Malick's recent burst of creative energy is sort of staggering. After completing just four films in forty-two years, he has dropped two films in two years (2011's "The Tree of Life" and 2012's "To the Wonder"), with "Knight of Cups" wrapping up, "Lawless" about to begin and an ambitious documentary that is still being worked on. Screen Daily talked to Malick's producers, Sarah Green and Nicolas Gonda, about his recent endeavors (including "To the Wonder," which just premiered in Venice – our man on the scene loved it) and what's going on with the movie Malick is currently tinkering with (including when we can expect that documentary).

Ah, selective quoting: it's a great way to stir up a beehive as Richard Brody from the New Yorker did this weekend when he cherry picked a comment Sean Penn made in a recent interview with French paper Le Figaro where he seemingly threw Terrence Malick's "The Tree Of Life" under the bus.

Well, it's been nearly a month since any word out of the world of Terrence Malick, and granted this is just a tiny morsel, but it at least confirms that things are still moving forward.

Brad Pitt Still Narrating 'Voyage Of Time' But It Has Been Pushed Back For Now2011 is a good time to be a Terrence Malick fan. The notoriously reclusive director doesn't talk to press so for the most part, before this year, getting any info on "The Tree Of Life" or anything else he was working on required patience, digging and a bit of teeth pulling. But with the "The Tree Of Life" beginning its rollout this weekend, the producers of the film are talking to press on his behalf and in addition to chatting about the film are also offering up morsels on some other projects Malick is currently cooking up. As you already know, last year he shot a new untitled film -- referred to as "The Burial" in some cirlces -- starring Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams, Rachel Weisz, Olga Kurylenko, Javier Bardem, Barry Pepper and Jessica Chastain. Details have been scarce, and while some bits and pieces leaked last fall, as we guessed, it'll probably be nothing like whatever those scrapings of info suggested.

With the Cannes premiere and Palme d'Or win now come and gone and the roll out for "The Tree Of Life" beginning this Friday, the long wait for Terrence Malick's latest is finally over. But that doesn't mean the project isn't without its mysteries. As Malick fans know, at some point in the film's gestation, plans were floated for a companion documentary entitled "Voyage Of Time" that would screen in IMAX.
