Django Unchained
There is a host of extras on the deluxe Blu-ray edition of Quentin Tarantino's revisionist splatter-western "Django Unchained" (out this week), but amidst all the special features, there's one thing you won't find: deleted scenes. During the press day we attended for the film back in December, Tarantino theorized that there could be a longer "Dances with Wolves"-esque director's cut one day, but as of now, that has yet to materialize (Samuel L. Jackson has joked he can't wait to see the five hour cut). But just because those deleted scenes aren’t part of the supplementary material or reintegrated into the film (yet), doesn't mean that they weren't there at some point – either at script phase or during filming. It's with this in mind that we run down the biggest deletions, omissions, or adjustments between what "Django Unchained" was to be, and what it ended up being.

When “Justified” actor Walton Goggins originally signed on for Quentin Tarantino’s antebellum slave drama “Django Unchained” he had a small part as a plantation thug, Billy Crash, who worked under Leonardo DiCaprio’s scene-chewing villain in the movie. But fortune smiled on him during production. Kurt Russell was cast as a Mandingo trainer named Ace Woody, that served as villain Calvin Candie (DiCaprio)'s right hand man.

Trilogy! Hollywood loves everything in threes and this week seems to be no exception. Of course, there's the announcement today of the new "Star Wars" trilogy coming for your wallet starting in 2015, and just yesterday, Quentin Tarantino revealed his upcoming "Django Unchained" might be the middle part of trilogy sandwich starting with "Inglorious Basterds." Well, until we find out if that will actually happen or will be a continual question mark like "Kill Bill 3," some new pics from "Django Unchained" have dropped.

With cinematic releases at the moment mostly involving the not-particularly inspiring likes of "That's My Boy" and "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter," it's hard not to look to television for a little nourishment. The trouble is that the TV season has wrapped up for the year. While a few shows (namely "Girls") are still wrapping up, and others get underway shortly ("The Newsroom," "Breaking Bad," "Louie"), it's pretty quiet on the box, with cast and creatives focusing on making a hiatus movie, campaigning for Emmy, or just getting some sleep for once.

We have to admit, we toyed around with alternate headlines, and nearly went with: "Poster For 'Django' Is 'Unchained'!" But at any rate, here we are, and let the drooling begin as the Spanish poster for Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained" has been unveiled with a pretty big and not too surprising nod to the classic western one sheets of yore, all with a little contemporary minimalist modern design sauce thrown in the mix.

It's been a pretty good day for stars of "The Shield." Michael Chiklis just nabbed the villain role in "Parker" and now his co-star Walton Goggins is joining the biggest Oscar bait picture of 2012.
