Earlier this week, Paul Rudd visited “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon” to welcome Fallon to his new gig as host and, ostensibly, to plug the rerelease of “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues,” which begins a weeklong run in an extended, R-rated cut this weekend. When the always-excitable Fallon asked Rudd what the longer cut was like, Rudd paused and said, “It’s just weird.” This is the easiest way to describe the new version of “Anchorman 2,” an oversized comedy so shapeless and bizarre that it borders on being experimental. Gone is any sense of pacing or propriety; in its place is sheer, go-for-broke goofiness. It doesn’t always work, but it’s probably the most fascinating thing being released in theaters this weekend.

Anchorman 2, poster crop
If it's one thing we know about "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues" director Adam McKay, it's that he shoots a lot of footage. There were so many alternate takes from the first 'Anchorman' that he cobbled together an entire second movie from the footage, entitled "Wake Up, Ron Burgundy" that was included in special two-packs with the original movie, and has joked that he shot more film for "Step Brothers" than Francis Ford Coppola did for "Apocalypse Now." But according to a new interview with Empire, McKay is planning an entire alternate version of "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues" with completely new jokes. Plus: a brand new poster for the movie!

It was bound to happen: Ron Burgundy, the egotistical news anchor played by Will Ferrell in 2004's"Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy" and this winter's "Anchorman: The Legend Continues," will have his own leather-bound book (undoubtedly smelling of rich mahogany). According to Rolling Stone, a new book supposedly authored by Burgundy will be out on November 19th. But that's not all: the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, which features Burgundy and his fellow newscasters on the cover, also offers some insight into the film's plot as well as revealing what would have been had the film come to fruition in its original form: as a lavish Broadway musical.

Last month, Fox 2000 (a sibling of 20th Century Fox) purchased the spec script "He's Fucking Perfect" from Will Ferrell and Adam McKay production company shingle Gary Sanchez. Penned by newbie scribe Lauryn Kahn, THR reported the story to be about a pessimistic woman in love who uses the Internet to research her friends’ dates, report back and weed out the losers. However, her role gets turned on its head when she encourages a friend to dump a date only so she can steal him for herself, and then uses her social media savvy to transform herself into his ideal girl.

While Anchor Bay Nab Starry Channing Tatum-Led Ensemble Drama 'Ten Year'For a while, we were starting to wonder if we'd dreamed the Will Ferrell comedy "Casa De Mi Padre." On almost no one's radar before the start of this year, a surprise trailer for the project, a Spanish-language film co-starring Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna, debuted back in the spring, but nothing's been heard from the film since, and we had to double check our archives to make sure it was a real thing, and not something that we'd imagined after a night with too many telenovelas and too much meth.

If you glanced at Twitter or any of your RSS feeds today, you may noticed that the internet is currently buzzing as Kanye West and Jay-Z's collaborative album Watch The Throne hit iTunes at midnight today and everyone was rocking it on their way to work this morning. Early word is strong on the album, which isn't surprising, and the album boasts a number of excellent samples which again, isn't that shocking. But one element that has been turning heads? The use of a bit of dialogue from Will Ferrell and Jon Heder's figure skating comedy "Blades Of Glory."

The pairing of Will Ferrell and Adam McKay is like peanut butter and chocolate, and of course, has been very lucrative as well. The duo collaborated on "Anchorman," "Step Brothers," "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby" and last year's "The Other Guys" and Warner Bros., like the rest of us, wants to see these two back together again.
