Nudity, Scientology & More We Learned From The Writer/Director About His Latest Rom-ComThis past weekend, "Friends with Benefits," starring Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis, opened to perhaps a smaller tally than the studio would have wanted, in part because of its striking similarity to January's infinitely dopier "No Strings Attached." Though bearing a similarity in their premise, writer/director Will Gluck's "Friends with Benefits" is the fizzier, funnier and more enjoyable film and it’s a shame that just because it's opening later means people are leaving it behind. We spoke to Will Gluck over the weekend about the comparisons to "No Strings Attached," his approach to the raunchy comedy in which no naughty bits are shown and one risque joke that may have offended a member of the cast.

Few directors are as hot and in-demand right now as Will Gluck. He directed one of 2010’s most universally loved movies, “Easy A,” and launched the career of star Emma Stone into the mainstream spotlight.

Comedy Filmmaker To Direct Ben Mezrich's NASA-Based Non-Fiction Heist NovelWithout question, one of the comedy filmmakers flying under the radar this past year is Will Gluck, director of last year’s effortlessly charming “Easy A,” starring breakout actress Emma Stone, who nabbed the female lead in "Spider-Man" role not long after that picture did super-strong box-office business.

There's a serious divide in that a movie title means more to a Hollywood executive than the general public. "Remaking" something like "Lethal Weapon" sort of makes sense, since those movies were so popular that you could slap "Lethal Weapon" on anything, and people will make certain associations that essentially minimizes the negative impact a bad marketing campaign can do. Does "About Last Night..." have the same power?

"Easy A" was definitely one of our favorite comedies of the year. Led by a thoroughly charming Emma Stone in a starmaking turn, the film was the rare female-led comedy that was smart, witty and ridiculously fun and funny. We loved it to bits. So color us very excited that director Will Gluck isn't wasting any time in re-teaming with the very hot, and definitely on-the-rise actress to make another film.

Why the fuck not, right? After every other studio dropped trailers for "Hall Pass," "No Strings Attached" and "Just Go With It" in the past 24 hours, why not one more? It seems like studio marketing executives never heard of audience fatigue, but whatever, you're going to be seeing these trailers forever until they come out, and we totally understand if you get these all mixed up.
