X-Men: Days Of Future Past
There's over a month still to go until "X-Men: Days Of Future Past" arrives in theatres. And because we live in the era of franchises and sequels, that means it's time to start discussing the inevitable followup, "X-Men: Apocalypse," already slated for 2016. And Singer along with producer/writer Simon Kinberg has teased some details about what to expect from the movie that will be "somewhat" based on 1990 comic run, "Age Of Apocalypse."

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Marc Webb
Were it not for the encouragement of Sony chief Amy Pascal, Marc Webb revealed at SXSW last week, “The Amazing Spider-Man” and its upcoming two sequels would’ve passed right by the “(500) Days of Summer” director’s path as “the stupidest thing” he’d ever heard. As vibrant a studio playground as the Marvel franchise has been for Webb the last few years, we’ve been eager to see what he can do outside it, and now it appears he’s been having similar thoughts.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past
While much of the attention in the lead up to "X-Men: Days Of Future Past" has been all about the serious number of mutants recruited for the sequel, maybe we should've been paying attention to the wardrobe. Jumping between the past and present, DOFP has given the cast plenty to play with when it comes to their look, and some of that is on full display in this new batch of images.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past Bryan Singer
While we're generally not a fan of every studio and franchise now copying the Marvel world-building approach, where each movie is just an interlocked stepping stone to the next, the opportunity is there to take stories into interesting directions. And it looks like Bryan Singer wants to do just that with "X-Men: Apocalypse," which the "X-Men: Days Of Future Past" director is already developing for a 2016 release.

Can you believe it's been ten years since "X-Men 2" hit theaters? To say that the cinematic comic book landscape has changed dramatically in that time would be a massive understatement. We're now in the era of world building, and as we detailed yesterday, pretty much every studio is attempting to construct massive, linking universes for their comic properties, because bigger may not mean better, but it does generally equals lots more cash. And right in the mix is Bryan Singer who, though he still has yet to deliver "X-Men: Days Of Future Past," is already starting to percolate ideas for the 2016 sequel "X-Men: Apocalypse."

How The 'Avengers'-Izing Of Blockbusters Is Killing Movies
Is it enough to just make one movie anymore? In the wake of Marvel’s audacious world-building in an assembly line of completely indistinguishable adventure movies, the studios would answer no. What used to be one series of movies has become a web, one that involves various other series’ and offshoots of one particular brand.

Last week came a double whammy of news over at Fox, that was more or less an early Christmas present for comic movie fans: first, it was announced that "X-Men: Apocalypse" was set for a 2016 release date and second, it would likely be part of a Marvel-esque universe of movies writer Simon Kinberg was building. Well, today brings with it a couple more updates starting with Vulture confirming that Bryan Singer will be back in the director's chair for 'Apocalypse,' but perhaps more intriguingly, word has already surfaced on how it links to "X-Men: Days Of Future Past." Warning: MASSIVE SPOILERS AHEAD.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past,
With extensive work on Neill Blomkamp’s “Elysium” and also the upcoming “Star Wars” films as a writer, producer Simon Kinberg has locked in recently on the sci-fi/fantasy front, but those aren’t enough—comic book adaptations have found his focus as well. Next summer’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past” and the Josh Trank-directed “Fantastic Four” remake both bear his name as writer/producer, but in a new development over at 20th Century Fox, which owns both franchises, he stands to have even more of a corner on the market.

After next year's "X-Men: Days Of Future Past" which is going to be a super size smorgasboard of every character Fox seemingly has the rights too, stuffed like a Blondie sandwich into the movie, what we of course need is announcement of even more, right?
