Owen Wilson & Zach Galifianakis in YOU ARE HERE
Matthew Weiner’s “You Are Here” is the worst “Mad Men”-related disaster since Sally Draper walked in on her father and Linda Cardellini going at it last season. And that was pretty bad, especially since Sally has already barged in on several passionate trysts—happily, not always involving her old man. “You Are Here” is far, far more soul-crushing: a supposed passion project that premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival with an air of mystery. Would Weiner’s first feature be a comedy? Would it have the feel of the modern television classic? Or perhaps seem linked to Weiner’s sitcom roots? And would it be any good? The answers to those questions are yes, no, yes, and my goodness, no.

One of the biggest compliments one could give to the Apatow-era of comedy is the development of talent, often very young and unheralded, from all around the world. Take, for instance, the international ensemble for "Bridesmaids" which featured Americans (Melissa McCarthy, Ellie Kemper), Brits (Matt Lucas, Chris O'Dowd) and Australians (Rose Byrne, Rebel Wilson) side-by-side.

Brewing for a while, "Mad Men" creator Matthew Weiner's feature film debut has been through a few different incarnations. Way, back in 2009 Jennifer Aniston, Bradley Cooper and Zach Galifianakis were the first names to line up for the movie that was in very advance planning to shoot last year. But in the fall of 2010, new names cropped up with Jack Black, Matt Dillon and Renée Zellweger all being eyed. But riding off the heat of the massive season five opener for "Mad Men," Weiner is building up his cast again and it's pretty strong.
