You've got hand it to Garry Marshall, or at least the agents surrounding this project, the director knows how to corral an ensemble comedy. Following on the heels of "Valentine's Day" which included Julia Roberts, Ashton Kutcher, Anne Hathaway, Bradley Cooper, Jessica Biel, Jessica Alba, Patrick Dempsey, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Garner, Anne Hathaway, Topher Grace, Queen Latifah, Taylor Swift, Taylor Lautner and more, Marshall has scored another name brand cast for his follow-up project and spiritual sequel/re-do in another holiday setting, "New Year's Eve."

This year has seen the actor -- and now producer -- link himself to a couple of intriguing projects including the Hollywood remake of the nifty Swedish drug drama "Snabba Cash" as well as con-man tale, "The Art Of The Steal" (not related the documentary of the same name). He's got one more grimy picture to his name.

Steam is beginning to build around Warner Bros. remake of the classic anime "Akira" with some interesting names being thrown around. But first a quick history recap: In February of this year, directing duo Allen and Albert Hughes were brought on to direct the film and this summer, Albert Torres ("Henry Poole Is Here") was hired to pen a new draft of the script with a due date of September. The project will be a two-film, PG-13 adaptation of the manga with the Hughes Brothers currently only on board for the first section which will bring books 1-3 of the series to the big screen. And it now looks like all systems are go as casting is tentatively beginning on the film.

I Do Not Like It, Sam-I-Am In the less-than-illustrious history of big-screen Dr. Seuss adaptations, Fox's 2007 animation "Horton Hears A Who" stands head and shoulders above its competitors. Admittedly, in going up against Ron Howard's "The Grinch" and the Mike Myers vehicle "The Cat In The Hat," the latter proving so bad that Seuss' widow swore she'd never again allow another live-action film of her late husband's work, it doesn't have a great deal of competition. But having said that, and taking into consideration that the film was souffle-light and immediately forgettable, it did have a big heart, some visual imagination and charming lead vocal work from Jim Carrey.
