The Zero Theorem
"Watchmen" may have come out five years ago, but it feels like yesterday given the back-and-forth that's happening through the various participants in the project. Joel Silver, producer of the version that was once slated be directed by Terry Gilliam, started the ball rolling by calling out Zack Snyder's film as being a "slave" to Alan Moore's comic. Snyder didn't take long to respond, declaring that his movie was made to "save it from the Terry Gilliams of the world," and now Gilliam himself has entered the fray.

Man Of Steel Henry Cavill Zack Snyder
Comic book fanboys are a conservative bunch that recoil at any hit of any changes to the way characters are portrayed on the screen vs the page and they’re fiercely protective of canon. One upcoming project that has drawn the ire of the geek community is the as-of-yet untitled “Man Of Steel” sequel that’s thrown everyone through a loop with its casting news over the past few months. And with cameras yet to start rolling, director Zack Snyder is already tired of the scrutiny.

Zack Snyder Watchmen
It looks like we now have a new, cinematic beef to follow. Sort of. Last week, producer Joel Silver declared that Zack Snyder's take on "Watchmen" was a "slave" to Alan Moore's comic, and that his proposed version that had been brewing at 20th Century Fox with Terry Gilliam, would've been better (though it would've essentially ditched Doctor Manhattan). Well, it hasn't taken long for Snyder to respond.

Watchmen
Up there in the pantheon of Movies Terry Gilliam Almost Made, riding right near the top (beneath "Harry Potter") is an adaptation of Alan Moore's "Watchmen." In case you weren't aware, before Zack Snyder got his slow-motion, "Hallejuah"-scored-sex-scene hands on the comic, the project was set up over at 20th Century Fox where Joel Silver and Gilliam were working on it. Obviously, it never came to pass, with Gilliam saying the material was "unfilmable," but today Silver sheds a light on just how different their version would have been.

Ben Affleck, To The Wonder
Zack Snyder’s currently untitled Batman Vs. Superman project doesn’t hit screens until summer 2015. That’s basically a year and six months from now, but you’ll probably be hearing a little nugget about it every single day until its July 17th, 2015 release date. The latest? Ben Affleck sat down for a long interview with Mike Flemming for Playboy (via Latino Review) and the Deadliner got some decent Batman questions in. While Affleck danced around answers, some replies were interesting. When asked how Affleck’s take on Batman will differ from Christian Bale’s Batman, the “Argo” actor/director didn’t really answer, but said his version wouldn’t “compete” with the “The Dark Knight” trilogy that came before it.

Retired Batman
A new tweet has arrived people. A tweet! Yes, it’s Friday and we're all halfway into the weekend, so let’s get right into it. What are we carping on about? Superhero in-the-know blogger Umberto Gonzalez has been generally on the money with his “Batman Vs. Superman” reporting of late. This morning he tweeted he was about to retweet a “scoop” about the upcoming Zack Snyder-directed superhero film for Warner Bros. And so he did, retweeting film producer Daniel Alter who tweeted “Can't wait for #BatmanvsSuperman.. #batfleck semi-retired/not speaking to Robin anymore… Controlling drones from the batcave.”

Man Of Steel Henry Cavill Amy Adams
This past weekend, Warner Bros. put together a Kevin Smith-hosted online fan event in the last push in the marketing cycle for "Man Of Steel" as it heads to home video tomorrow. And while fans were hoping some kind of big announcement for "Batman Vs. Superman" would be made, that didn't quite happen. But there were at least a couple of morsels worth pondering as the super-sequel continues to head toward its 2015 release date.

To The Wonder, Olga Kurylenko
Rumors have been swirling around the Internet for several days now: Wonder Woman is going to make some kind of appearance, or have a significant role in “Batman Vs. Superman.” Actress and “Thor 2: The Dark World” goddess Jaimie Alexander recently became a woman in question because she revealed that she had been having conversations with WB about the superhero team-up film and knew what the plot was about. Oh course, that speculation led many to assume she’d be playing the Amazonian heroine.

Man Of Steel
To celebrate Superman turning 75 (!), Warner Bros. Animation has teamed up with "Man of Steel" director Zack Snyder and "Superman: The Animated Series" co-creator Bruce Timm to create a nifty piece of animation that, in the span of just two minutes, covers a whole lot of that 75 years, mixing both traditional hand-drawn and computer generated animation, and making your heart leap out of your chest in the process. Prepare to feel like a little kid again (for two minutes).

When director Zack Snyder first announced "Superman Vs. Batman," at Comic Con this summer, he asked one of his “Man Of Steel” cast members to read from a key line in Frank Miller’s seminal graphic novels, “The Dark Knight Returns.” Batman said to his adversary, Superman: “I want you to remember, Clark, in all the years to come, in all your most private moments, I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you.” And it would set the tone for all things to come afterwards.
