“There's no political agenda in the film. Full stop. Period.” As much as screenwriter Mark Boal may wish his words would guide public knowledge about the Kathryn Bigelow-directed film, “Zero Dark Thirty” -- which details the U.S. government's raid on Osama bin Laden as depicted through Boal's script -- the truth of its subject matter and an election year simply makes that impossible. Conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch has been at the forefront of proving Boal's statement wrong, but after requests made in January were finally approved for CIA and Department of Defense documents detailing their involvement to be released, the results finally paint a picture more of minor fandom than political maneuvering.

Randall Miller's rock 'n' roll tribute "CBGB" has found its female lead with 'Twilight' star Ashley Greene taking on the role of Lisa Kristal, daughter of the Hilly Kristel, the owner of the titular, influential New York club to be played by Alan Rickman. The story follows Kristal as she clashes with her father, ends up as the club's business manager and attends law school all while keeping the club afloat during tough times. The real life Lisa Kristal is, in fact, a producer on the film so authenticity shouldn't be an issue here. Miller is helming from a script he wrote with Jody Savin with several interesting cast members already filled including Taylor Hawkins as Iggy Pop, Mickey Sumner as Patti Smith and Malin Akerman as Debbie Harry. Even aside from his superb films, co-directed with his brother Jay, like "Baghead," "Cyrus" and "Jeff Who Lives At Home," we've been seeing more and more of Mark Duplass as an actor recently. The writer/director/star appears in cult comedy series "The League," and has recently cropped up in indie festival favorites like "Your Sister's Sister" and "Safety Not Guaranteed," as well as a role in Lawrence Kasdan's "Darling Companion." But it looks like the actor's just taken his first major studio role, in a film that's one of our most anticipated of the year.

At this point, we're beginning to suspect that in order to cast her still-untitled film about the mission to kill Osama Bin Laden, Kathryn Bigelow incepted us, found out all our favorite actors and actresses, and put them in her movie. First, she cast Australian actor Jason Clarke from "Brotherhood," and "Parks & Recreation" scene stealer Chris Pratt. Then came rising star Joel Edgerton, of "Warrior" not-quite-fame, along with "Carlos" star Edgar Ramirez, 'Tinker Tailor' stand out Mark Strong, and The Playlist's Woman of the Year 2011, Jessica Chastain. And after that? The always-wonderful Jennifer Ehle, and Coach Taylor himself, "Friday Night Lights" and "Super 8" star Kyle Chandler, along with Harold Perrineau Jr, Nash Edgerton and Fares Fares.

After years on Australian television, actor Callan Mulvey is making a move into the American film market. The actor has come into his own over the last few years, starring in the small-screen police-actioner "Rush" and it seems like the weekly exhibition of his action chops must have caught the right eyes somewhere as he's now scored roles in two big films in the works this year.
