10 Essential Cinematic Antiheroes
Legendary filmmakers Frank Capra, Billy Wilder, John Ford and John Huston have all been given their own stamps, issued this week, as part of the Great Film Directors (Forever) series. If none of those names are familiar to you, go hit IMDB, check out the top rated movies for each filmmaker, add 'em to your Netflix queue and then get back to us in a few weeks. These are the guys who changed the shape of cinematic history in many ways, either in form or structure or by simply delivering some the finest works ever made, which continue to endure to the present day. The films referenced in the pretty beautiful-looking stamps are "The Searchers" (Ford), "It Happened One Night" (Capra), "Some Like It Hot" (Wilder) and "The Maltese Falcon" (Huston).
Prices range from $1.80 to $9 depending on how many you want, and should be a nice way to adorn a postcard from your summer vacation this year. Anyway, a nice gift for the cinephile in your life, even if it's yourself. [via Slant]
