Terence Stamp Says He Wrote A Sequel Script For 'The Limey'; Sought For Role In 'Anchorman 2'?

There is probably no greater raconteur or actor you'd want to talk to more than Terence Stamp. Seriously, just read this interview we did with him at the tail end of last year -- dude knows how to tell a story. And recently, he regaled an audience in the U.K. with a few more tales following a screening of his latest film, "Song For Marion." And the actor dropped of couple intriguing nuggets that are worth a mention.

Of course, Steven Soderbergh fans know that Stamp starred in "The Limey," the director's cleverly cut tale about an Englishman who heads to Los Angeles to find his daughter. But what you may have forgotten is that Soderbergh was at one time considering a sequel, and was looking to reteam with Stamp and rope in Michael Caine to star as well. Not much has really been heard about what else the sequel would've included, but Stamp has shed a little light.

According to AICN, the actor revealed he's written "a screenplay for a loose sequel to 'The Limey' " and that "it was intended to star Stamp and Julie Christie, with the plot revolving around an aging gangster going after the ex-partner who betrayed him and married his lover (Christie)." Of course, with Soderbergh now officially on hiatus/retired, it won't happen. But man, if Soderbergh needs a project to bite into if/when he returns....all we're saying is we'd love to see this. Especially if Caine is the ex-partner...

Meanwhile, another sequel is seeking Stamp, with the actor also teasing that "Will Ferrell's people had reached out to see if he would be interested in playing a Rupert Murdoch-type figure in Ferrell's next film." We can only presume that's "Anchorman: The Legend Continues," and simply, that would be awesome. But Stamp notes no formal offer has been made yet, so he's not sure if he'll be joining the movie.

So there's some little curios for you today, and while that Soderbergh sequel will probably never happen, the potential pairing of Ferrell and Stamp is promising enough.
