Teresa Palmer, Imogen Poots, Alison Brie & More Testing For 'Captain America 2'; Scarlett Johansson To Possibly Appear

Chris Evans, you lucky bastard. The shortlist for his love interest in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" has dropped and it's basically a list of actresses who have been the subjects of our ever unsent mash notes.

Deadline reports that "Game Of Thrones" stars Emilia Clarke (you might know her as Daenerys Targaryen), Jessica Brown-Findlay of "Downton Abbey" fame, rising thesps Teresa Palmer and Imogen Poots, as well as Alison Brie of the acclaimed shows "Mad Men" and "Community" are all in the running to hang off Steve Rogers' arm. But wait—there's more. Now that Captain America has been unfrozen in contemporary times, that means he can run into any of The Avengers, and Scarlett Johansson is "in the mix" to roll with our hero in some capacity in the sequel. And considering she isn't popping up in "Iron Man 3," the move makes sense, and perhaps indicates some interesting changes for the character.

Anyone you prefer to win the role opposite Evans? Frankly, we like all the choices so whoever gets it, that's just fine by us.

    As who? That's the question.

As an actress, I'd like Poots. As Sharon, I'd like Clarke, as Bernie I'd like Brie.

Is ALL OF THEM an option? Because I'd like to see that movie. Maybe the Cap has 5 new girlfriends and they can't find out about each other, but then when they do, oh man, they create a Sisterhood of the Red Skull or something to get back at him.

Yaya Decosta, Jessica Lucas, Freida Pinto, Sydney Tamiia Poitier, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Gugu Mbatha-Raw

Really like Imogen Poots. Poor girl has been in SOOO many films some good ones & still hasnt "blown up" yet. She has the longest resume of all them as well. I think she "deserves" it the most

    Khaleesi...hands down.

From this list? Easily Alison Brie. Gorgeous, funny, and a pretty versatile actress considering her time on Mad Men and all the genre bending episodes of Community they've done.

Poots is the only one who was rumored for the role back in August as well, along with Anna Kendrick and Felicity Jones. So I assume her still being around makes her the frontrunner?

  • Sean C. | October 3, 2012 11:49 PM

Not necessarily. Seems like she was the one of the first three that they liked enough to consider further, and then cast the net out again for other options.

I'd be happy with Alison Brie or Emilia Clarke. Though I wouldn't complain if Mary Elizabeth Winstead entered the mix.

Alison Brie all the way. Or Felicity Jones.

Anyone but Alison Brie and her singular, eye-widening expression, but considering the Russo Brothers worked on Community...

Agreed. Very one-note and overrated. But she's popular because she panders to fanboys.

Why not Ashley Johnson? You know the waitress chick from the Avengers who was checking out Captain America? She'd be my first choice

  • Sean C. | October 3, 2012 11:48 PM

Because that character is a waitress, not a secret agent?

Alison Brie is wonderful, would love to see her get this role.

Alison Brie is talented and has a history with the directors so she will probably get it which is fine. I'd also quite like to see poor Teresa Palmer get it. for years she is always in the running for these high profile roles and then misses out.
