10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesThe folks over at Bloody Disgusting are reporting that a follow up "will in fact move forward" thanks to the $23 million haul the movie made. Of course, horror flicks are generally frontloaded, and "Texas Chainsaw 3D" will likely disappear from memory in a couple of weeks, but they are also very, very cheap to make. And no doubt, this latest entry probably didn't strain the pursestrings over at Lionsgate. It's long been bandied about that the producers currently behind the series have the rights for multiple sequels, and even a modest success is an excuse to exercise to them.
Nothing is official just yet, and as for the next installment's storyline, there's no real word, but does it matter? It will probably be another slice 'n dice effort with hot young things in peril, and the sound of lumberjack tools cranked to eleven in the theater. Another January release, another $20 million, done.
