This Is Really Going To Hurt: New Footage In 1 Minute 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' TV Spot

Christmas trees are going up, shopping lists are being made and travel plans are getting locked down for the forthcoming holiday season, but David Fincher will paint it black this Christmas with "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo." And as we eagerly await the film, a brand new, one minute TV spot for the film offers yet another peek at the film with a healthy amount of new footage.

Rooney Mara in what looks like a career making performance leads the film as the damaged, brilliant Lisbeth Salander who pairs with Daniel Craig's Mikael Blomkvist to find a killer of women and unravel a decades old mystery. As the tattoo artist notes right at the very beginning of this clip, this is going to hurt, as the tale based on the best selling book by Stieg Larsson goes to some very, very dark places. So if you're truly sick and tired of Christmas carols by the end of December, "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" will be quite the antidote.

The film will open on December 21st and one new image from the movie has snuck online as well, giving us yet another peek as Lisbeth. Both below. [ComingSoon/New York Times]

I agree, re-makes can be challenging. I reecntly saw a film from Switzerland called, 'The Sandman' ( it was released this year and will likely be remade for the US Market. But here is another film that will never get re-made, I am sure:

Same story, yes. Different person telling it. That's a huge thing, believe it or not.

As far as it looking "just like the original," what can I say except you're wrong. As for "no surprises," well...I don't know how to help ya. *shrugs*

@Zatopek: I agree. There are no surprises, it's the exact same story. I can identify every scene in the trailers. Don't understand the hype either. It's probably Fincher fanboys. Just like with 'Scott Pilgrim' and 'Sucker Punch' the internet fanboys will be louder than the box office. I like Fincher, Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig just disappointed that they want to use their talents to remake a movie which came out less than 2 years ago.

They aren't remaking anything, they are adapting the Swedish book into an American movie.

I don't understand the hype. It looks just like the original Swedish film, but with a bigger budget and different actors. I don't know what you people are expecting from this other than a slightly improved version at best.
