One of the most talked-about films this spring was Paolo Sorrentino's followup to "Il Divo," the oddball roadtrip movie "This Must Be The Place." Starring a Robert Smith-channeling Sean Penn, the film is an odd one, a gothic holocaust dramedy of sorts about an aging rocker who goes to find the SS officer who tortured his estranged father, who recently passed away. Reviews were mixed, but curiousity abounded not only for the chance to see Penn do something quite out of step with his usual screen appearances, but also because of a score led by new tunes from David Byrne and Will Oldham. Well, while we wait for The Weinstein Company to release this movie, details on the soundtrack have arrived, though you'll have to import this one for now.

This Must Be The Place

Teaming with Irish singer-songwriter Michael Brunnock, and titling their outfit The Pieces Of Shit (nice), the trio deliver five new songs: "Lay & Love" (a Bonnie "Prince" Billy cover), "Open Up," "Eliza," "If It Falls It Falls" and "The Sword Is Yours." To get the Talking Heads quotient filled, there are two covers of the title track: a live version from David Byrne and a slower take by Trevor Green. Also featured are "Happiness" by Jónsi & Alex and Iggy Pop's "The Passenger."

It's eclectic to say the least. Currently the soundtrack is only available through Amazon and iTunes Italy, though we hope a domestic release is in the works. No word yet on when the film will hit theaters. Check out the tracklist and some of the tunes below. [via TwentyFourBit]
