TIFF Clip: 'The Right Kind Of Wrong' Starring Ryan Kwanten From 'Benny & Joon' Director Jeremiah Chechik

It’s been fifteen years since “Benny and Joon” director Jeremiah Chechik directed a feature length film. Despite the hot streak created by the Johnny Depp rom-com, Chechik fell from grace after the disastrous 1998 adaptation of the television series “The Avengers” (think less Joss Whedon and more villains dressed up as giant teddy bears). Since then Chechik has focused on directing for television with work on the CW’s “Hart of Dixie” and USA’s “Burn Notice.”

Since then Chechik has focused on directing for television with work on the CW’s “Hart of Dixie” and USA’s “Burn Notice.”

Thankfully, he hasn’t turned away from directing features entirely. His first theatrical release “The Right Kind of Wrong” will premiere at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, also marking the film's Canadian premiere. “The Right Kind of Wrong” appears to be in a similar quirky romantic vein as “Benny and Joon,” and rounds up a cast featuring “True Blood” hunk Ryan Kwanten, Catherine O’Hara and Sara Canning. The film follows Leo (Kwanten), who meets the woman of his dreams on her wedding day to another man. Instead of Leo convincing the girl to fall for him, he’ll try to compel her to marry the man she’s engaged to, assumedly the more honorable route. The brief clip doesn’t do anything to convey the plot, at a scant 57 seconds, but it does suggest something appropriately light 'n breezy.

Check the spot below—the flick is still seeking distribution. The Toronto International Film Festival runs September 5-15th.
