10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesUpdate: Sorry everyone, we were misinformed about the provenance of the below pic which is actually an editorial picture Swinton did for W Magazine last year. Still, she looks cool.
It says something about the ethereal nature of the unique Tilda Swinton that she looks as at home playing a fierce social services worker in Wes Anderson's "Moonrise Kingdom" as she does portraying David Bowie's wife in his latest video. Her career is marked by turns playing everything from a lawyer with corrosive morals in "Michael Clayton" to a vampire in Jim Jarmusch's upcoming "Only Lovers Left Alive." So a stint in Bong Joon-ho's post-apocalyptic "Snowpiercer"? Fits like a glove.
A new image of the actress in the film has arrived, and yeah, she looks perfectly, normally, typically alien. Awesome. An adaptation of the French graphic novel "Le Transperceneige," the story takes place on a train carrying the only survivors of a post-apocalyptic future, as revolt brews. Chris Evans, Jamie Bell, Song Kang-ho, John Hurt, Alison Pill, Octavia Spencer and Ewen Bremner all star, but no details on the roles just yet. But seriously, what do you need to know other than Swinton looks like a future fashion runway model?
No release date, but the Cannes Film Festival is looking like a possible place for an international premiere. [The Film Stage]
