Recap: 'Arrested Development'
Review: 'The Immigrant'The film will tell the tale of a powerful natural gas company that infiltrates a small rural town to tap into subterranean resources, and will follow how that action affects the residents' lives. Welliver plays a resident open to the gas company's presence with his character also noted to be a potential love interest for Frances McDormand's sales rep from one of two companies, represented by rival execs played by Damon and John Krasinski. Rosemarie Dewitt and Hal Holbrook also co-star respectively as a teacher who comes between the two execs and an engineer resisting the corporate takeover with rising star Scoot McNairy on board in an unknown role. A great collection of talent for what's being described as a Frank Capra-esque tale.
The Focus Features/Participant Media project originated from an idea by author Dave Eggers before Damon and Krasiniki teamed for the script. It had also been eyed by Damon as his directorial debut before he bailed due to his heavy schedule. Production kicks off soon. [Variety]
