Tolkien Week Kicks Off With New Images From 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey'

If you have a geek in your life, you probably have already been informed that today kicks off Tokien Week, a celebration of all things Middle Earth. The next seven days will mark, among other things, the 75th anniversary of the publication of "The Hobbit." Hardly the ones to look a gift marketing opportunity horse in the mouth, Warner Bros. and Peter Jackson are riding that wave with a promised plethora of stuff to please the fans.

USA Today helps get the ball rolling with eight new images from "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey." All your faves are here including Bilbo, Gollum and Gandalf, as well as newer folks like Radagast and Thorin Oakenshield. And as Jackson informs you in the video below, this is all a prelude to the brand new trailer that will drop on Wednesday, September 19th and presumably, blow some minds.

'An Unexpected Journey' starts the trilogy of films on December 14th.
