This summer there are going to be a lot of options at the multiplex, but few will let you indulge your guilty pleasure center as readily as "Rock Of Ages," Adam Shankman's star-studded musical that will bring the Broadway show to the big screen, complete with its surplus of '80s hits and hairspray.

The story is a familiar one, centering on a young woman who dreams of making it big and falls in love along the way, and it's no surprise that the film's leads, Julianne Hough and Diego Boneta, get the lion's share of the tunes. But it's Tom Cruise who's going to get the most ink and many will be curious to see if he can successfully take on Guns 'N Roses "Paradise City" (how does Axl feel about this?) and Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar On Me." Meanwhile, Malin Akerman will belt out "I Want To Know What Love Is" by Foreigner while Catherine Zeta-Jones will sing "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" the one-hit-wonder tune by Eddie Schwartz. Hell, even Russell Brand is getting in on it, delivering his takes on Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take It" and Starship's "We Built This City" (in a medley), as well as REO Speedwagon's "Can't Fight This Feeling."

Anyway, if your summer won't be complete without Hollywood stars singing radio hits from the '80s, the "Rock Of Ages" soundtrack arrives on June 5th a few days before the movie drops on June 8th. [Film Music Reporter]
