Alongside Cormac McCarthy, William Faulkner is the author of most interest to James Franco. Last year, Franco went to Cannes with his adaptation of "As I Lay Dying," which utilized split screens to capture to the many voices encompassing the story's narrative simultaneously. And while it remains to be seen what aesthetic tricks Franco will bring to his latest Faulkner-derived project, "The Sound And The Fury," the first batch of images from the movie indicate his inclinations.

In typical Franco fashion, he's starring in and directing the picture, and he's also called up pals Seth Rogen and Danny McBride for roles alongside Joey King, Tim Blake Nelson, Ahna O'Reilly and more. Here's the official synopsis: Directed by and starring Academy Award nominee James Franco, The Sound and The Fury captures the lives and passions of the Compsons, a once proud Southern family caught in a tragic spiral of loss and misfortune. Based on the novel by Noble Prize winner author William Faulkner and considered among the 20th century’s greatest works, The Sound and the Fury encapsulates the universal theme of the death of honor, social injustice and forbidden love.

"The Sound And The Fury" will have its World Premiere at the Venice Film Festival where it will play Out Of Competition. Pics below.
