Hugo Martin Scorsese

We now live in an era where almost everything is available with the click of a button. Want to spend a weekend diving into the cinema of John Cassavates? You can stream it. How about spending your vacation catching up with Martin Scorsese's films? Throw it on your phone and go. But sometimes it does help to have a guide to put it all in perspective, and short of film school, here's another way you can get your bearings on over 100 years of movie history.

The Ministry of Cinema has put together the 6-part video series, "A Timeline of World Cinema," that takes you on a roughly one-hour journey from the silent era right up until today. Each episode runs about ten minutes long and covers Pre-Classical Cinema, Rise Of The Studio System, The Golden Age Of Hollywood, Foreign Wave, New Hollywood and finally, Contemporary Cinema. It's a good starter's guide and will perhaps inspire you to add a few more things to your Netflix queue. Take a long lunch and watch below. [No Film School]
