If you've been paying attention the awards season race, the Best Actor and Best Support Actor categories could find Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto, respectively, in the final five nominees. And yes, their performances in the upcoming "Dallas Buyers Club" is that good.
But if you need more proof, two clips from the movie have made their way online. In the first we see McConaughey's Ron Woodruff slyly outwit authorities who have busted him at the border with all manner of unapproved drugs that he's planning to sell to AIDS patients in the United States. And in the next we see a remarkably transformed Leto, as the transvestite Rayon, putting the charms on for his nurse (Jennifer Garner). All told, Jean Marc-Vallee's film is one that we said is "a smartly entertaining tale, delivered with respect for its subject matter, but also wisely knows you can be fun and funny even in the arena of an AIDS drama."
"Dallas Buyers Club" opens on November 1st.
