Nicole Kidman is a super actress and always gives extraordinary performances!, the film looks as a "must see".She dominates and lights the screen the way Monroe, Hepburn, Taylor, Kelly did!

I may not see Grace Kelly either, but this looks to be no Diana.

When I watched this I did not see Grace Kelly... I saw Nicole Kidman. If a movie is being made about an iconic star, perhaps using an iconic star to portray her was the big misstep. Nicole has never impressed me with her American accent, it seems to oscillate between Australian and English undertones with a strange breathiness. I thought she was wonderful in Margot at the Wedding, The Others, Birthday Girl, Stoker and Dead Calm but her other movies do nothing for me. Perhaps she should stick with the characters she portrays best and not oversaturate the cinema market. She's not as transformative in her roles as she (is either)(a) told by her people (b) believes in her mind. She's more of a one trick pony. A good one.... so she should stick with characters that suit her. And would it really kill her to allow her face to mature normally a bit and play roles of 46 year old women? Meryl Streep is excellent for that reason.... she chooses well. Unfortunately, she's like that song you like until the radio station plays it four times every hour for weeks on end.... then you can't stand it.

Time and time again, we have witnessed Kidman struggling to maintain a specific accent throughout the duration of a movie. The GOM trailer, once again, demonstrates her acting inadequacies and the generic, expressionless face simply highlights the B Grade actress she is and has always been.

I took this tidbit from an online site about Grace Kelly in particular. ***Fake Brit: She originally spoke with Philadelphia dialect, but for her film career, she developed a somewhat British-sounding, high-class accent. She played English women in Mogambo and Dial M for Murder.(If Kidman is portraying Grace Kelly in her personal life, then why would she have a Fake Brit accent?) Kidman's North Carolinian accent in Cold Mountain was not good nor was her Boston accent in Malice. Generally speaking, her American accents sound fine to people who may not be as familiar with these regions but her accent is far from perfect like Daniel Day Lewis, for instance. I think she sounded like a true Russian in Birthday Girl but a Russian may disagree. Kidman is in the A-List league of actors. Putting her skills under a microscope should not be a surprise to her fans.

I agree with Cooltweens and Ian. Grace Kelly certainly did NOT have an American accent, whatever you're trying to say that is. She had an affected fake English accent most of the time. Kidman seems to be going for that and getting it.

What exactly is an "American accent"? People in the New England states don't sound anything like people in the southern states, West Coast, etc etc. Grace Kelly's accent had been invariably described as "mid-Atlantic English", "somewhat British-sounding" or "fake British accent". She certainly did not speak with an "American accent" after she became a princess.

"Perhaps she should stick with the characters she portrays best and not oversaturate the cinema market." What are you even talking about? Nicole Kidman isn't in that many movies.

You're trying to sound as if you're smart, but you're not. Kidman's American accent is solid and Grace Kelly's accent wasn't American.

I don't get a "Diana" vibe at all. This looks good!

Kylie. I replied to your previous message, as did several others. Grace Kelly did NOT have an American accent. You only have to listen to her interviews to know that. Also I didn't say she "isn't in many movies" but are we pretending an average of 2.2 movies a year is a lot now?

If you had read the entire post, you'd notice I was balanced in my opinion of her. As far as the comment, 'isn't in that many movies'... She has 61 Film credits with nearly 22 in the last ten years alone. That's A LOT of movies for any actor. You should do a little research before you ask what I'm talking about. And as far as Grace Kelly's accent, she was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was American with an American dialect. I'm familiar with her films, especially her Hitchcock films. I know an American accent when I hear one, I'm American. Hugh Laurie and Damian Lewis imitate the best American accents, I've heard. Hopefully the story-line of this film is good. I'm haven't panned the entire film, just what I have seen so far. Calm Down Adoring Kidman Fans.

That trailer is actually just about two minutes long. But, yet again, The Playlist don't actually watch or pay attention to anything they post. They are only about getting as many useless articles out there at once. You guys are in dire need of an actual editor.

Right? My sentiments exactly. It's 30 minutes of Warner advertising. Jesus. Really. Get an editor!!!!!!!!!!

Between you and me: That three-minute trailer is just a bit over two minutes long. Just saying. Apart from that I guess it doesn't look bad, but it doesn't look particularly interesting either. I'm a fan of Kidman and I might be able to accept her in this role but the trailer sells this as a star-studded melodrama including Hollywood, royals, and superficial political highjinks. I guess I'll wait for reviews out of Cannes.
