There are filmmakers whose fame has elevated itself to a certifiable brand, but Martin Scorsese is one of them. The filmmaker is an American institution, but he's not above using his famous moniker to help draw some extra heat for movies that might need a little boost, whether they be from famous pals (Scorsese gets an executive producer tag on Robert De Niro's upcoming "The Family"), filmmakers he's borrowed from (he's producing "Infernal Affairs" director Andrew Lau's "Revenge Of The Green Dragons") or international movies that need some love (he presented Matteo Garrone's "Gomorrah"). And now he's set to do it again.

Deadline reveals that Scorsese's name will grace Wong Kar-Wai's "The Grandmaster" when it rolls into theaters later this month, adding a last-minute bit of sizzle to The Weinstein Company-distributed film. The Hong Kong director's latest has had a mixed reception so far, but Scorsese's imprint may swing some of those on the fence over to buying some tickets. So what can you do until the the film starts rolling out on August 23rd in limited release? Well, you check out this 75-minute documentary on Scorsese from 1991 (via Dangerous Minds).

Produced for German television, it follows Scorsese as he puts together his segment from the omnibus "New York Stories," works with longtime collaborator, editor Thelma Schoonmaker, and more. And it's all capped off with a visit to the director's always entertaining parents, who weigh in on their favorite films by their son. Scorsese is one of the most fascinating guys to watch talk about film, and this is worth a spin. Watch below.
