Picking up coverage everywhere from EW to Cahier du Cinema, Harmony Korine's “Spring Breakers” finally opens in theaters this month, and while the promo efforts are perhaps getting to be just a few clips away from overkill at this point, we've got a quick new one as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the cast and crew's Miami exploits.
The odd force with a gold-studded grin at the center of Korine's film is James Franco's Alien, and this new clip extends his introduction from the trailer to the hopeful girls on vacation, played by Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine. Obviously not the most appealing of chauffeurs, he still is able to drop the girls' “s'picions” and convince them to accompany him on his crime spree of guns, drugs and pink unicorn ski masks.
With Korine at the center of what's already a wild mixture, there was bound to be some good stories from the set. Partnered with Vice, the director confirms as much as he looks through on-set photography by Annabel Mehran and describes the day -- in particular making Gomez, the naïve character in the film -- freak out for real, and helping her act through “guys trying to hump her.” He adds, “She was a trooper.”
You can see how all four actresses fared when “Spring Breakers” opens in LA and NY March 22nd, before going wide March 24th. Check out both the clip and BTS footage below.
