Yesterday, we got our first taste of David Cronenberg's "Maps To The Stars," with what was essentially a post-production reel. And is generally the case, that kind of footage isn't always the best representation of the tone and style of the finished product. Well, this morning brings with it another look at Cronenberg's film with another trailer, one boasting lots of new footage and a distinctly different vibe.

Certainly a lot more NSFW, and with a heightened air of sexuality and surreality, this new look is much better (in this writer's opinion) than its tonally wonky predecessor. The story of the twisted Weiss family is given more space to truly explore how messed up they all are to one degree or another, with ambition, status, sex, secrets and more all plaguing them to various degrees. However, the question will be whether or not Cronenberg has anything new to say about the wealthy, famous and privileged that hasn't been said before.

No release date yet, but the film does have a May 21 release date in France, so expect this one at Cannes. eOne is distributing in North America later this year, Watch below.

Julianne Moore is really Oscar bait in this. She has what looks like a very juicy role. Supported by a great cast, this looks like a hit to me. Smart, funny, sharp, mysterious, dangerous and sexy.

It may premiere in North America at TIFF in September. I guess we'll have to wait and see how it does at Cannes.

I just love Mia Wasikowska. She'll always be Jane Eyre to me. This looks super good, funny too.

    "No release date yet"

Um, the trailer says May 21 right in it.

    In France.

It's a shame the first sales reel trailer leaked because all the outlets are featuring that on their articles instead of this one and it doesn't give a true representation of the movie. This one is far superior, intriguing & messed up (in the best Cronenbergian way). I'm sure Cronenberg was mortified to know the post production trailer to see to markets was out there before he unveiled this one catering to the masses.

I think it was originally posted by a German distribution company. It appears it was a demo use to support sales, perhaps in Berlin.

yeah, how does that happen? wouldn't a team working hard on a multi-million dollar project protect it from leaking? i haven't worked on any post-production crews and am not really sure how tight production footage is sealed at that stage. disgruntled employee? intern trying to make a name for himself...somehow? or maybe agents eager to show any footage whatsoever of their clients?
