Stuck in a rut, lonely and watching life pass him by, Walter Mitty needs a change. And he gets one in Ben Stiller's updated remake of "The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty," his rousing, life-affirming take on the classic 1939 story and 1947 film, that will either win over your heart or drown it in sentimentality, depending on how this all plays out for you.
For our man on the ground at the New York Film Festival, the picture—which co-stars Kristen Wiig, Adam Scott, Sean Penn and more—didn't quite add up with "montages that ring either silly, hokey or false" and a narrative that is "often paved with cloying misdirection." Bummer because Stiller's ambitions are certainly grand, aiming for a grand, sweeping scope and scale in which reality and fantasy feed off each other.
This new 3-minute long trailer is the biggest look at the movie yet, so let us know what you think below. "The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty" opens on Christmas Day.
