10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesA followup to last year's omnibus effort "V/H/S" (which also unspooled in Park City), this time around, segments have been helmed by Gareth Evans (“The Raid”) alongside Timo Tjahjanto (“Macabre”), Eduardo Sanchez (co-director of “The Blair Witch Project”) alongside producer Greg Gale, the returning Adam Wingard, Simon Barret, and “Hobo With a Shotgun” director Jason Eisner. And clinging them all together is a conceit that we'll let Sundance explain:
Inside a darkened house looms a column of TVs littered with VHS tapes, a pagan shrine to forgotten analog gods. The screens crackle and pop endlessly with monochrome vistas of static—white noise permeating the brain and fogging concentration. But you must fight the urge to relax: this is no mere movie night. Those obsolete spools contain more than just magnetic tape. They are imprinted with the very soul of evil.
There's no release date or distributor yet, but we'd reckon that Magnet Releasing, who released the first compilation, are going to be interested in Round 2. Watch below. [via RopeOfSilicon]

So you're gonna start your ad campaign with a shot of a little kid with a gun pointed in her face? I know it's a squirt gun, yeah-yeah, but I also know this is gonna be a brutal movie, so the inference here is not summertime fun but a little kid who's about to be shot in the face.
Do what you want. Sell your movie however you want. Free-ish country and all that. But my two cents? I love V/H/S. And I was really looking forward to this. But I don't want to see anything where the marketing seeks to remind me of Newtown in order to get me to pony up my dough. That's how I'll vote no on this flick.
