Though "Interstellar" is still over a year away from hitting theaters, for Christopher Nolan fans looking for a fix, the forthcoming "The Dark Knight Trilogy: Ultimate Collector's Edition" will have plenty to dig into. More than just a box throwing together the three Batman movies, it's coming with a boatload of extra material, some of which is now making its way online.

Perhaps the most enticing is a look at Christian Bale's audition reel for the role, one that finds him saying his lines opposite future "The Fighter" co-star Amy Adams, and wearing Val Kilmer's Batsuit as well. As you can see, from the start he looked right at home in the cape and cowl. Next up is another brief clip with Nolan discussing the heightened reality of his films, one that's just stylized enough that audiences can enjoy the experience without being overtaken by the serious nature of the subject matter.

Check out both below and for a bonus, hit EW to watch another segment about Nolan's pitch to do the franchise in the first place. "The Dark Knight Trilogy" box is in stores on Tuesday. [Batman News/USA Today]

Isn't that the George Clooney Batsuit?

Agree with GPL. People complain about things they think " they could've done better". Please!! How bout you stop nitpicking life and enjoy it. Great films in this case. We Americans can be idiots sometimes

Wow, watching that screen test, I have to say, I think the way that Bale played it in the audition was a better performance than what showed up in ANY of the Nolan Batman films. Granted, I think he was one of the best cinematic Batmen to date, but especially in Rises, I thought Bale was way over the top.
When seeing the screen test, I have to say, I think it was better than even Begins, when he was at his best. It had a far stronger subdued intensity, and that "I'm Batman" line was much, much more striking here. Thanks for sharing this!

Nice! These are the kinds of DVD extra's I like to see. Funny that they used a Batsuit that they still had lying around.

Also, you guys catch a lot of flack for your articles (and frankly, most of it is deserved) but this is exactly the kind of article I like to read here. Short, simple and kind of sweet. Let me explain why it's sweet. You could easily have made some 'witty'/cynical comments about the batvoice, but you chose not to, instead you complimented Bale for his performances as Batman. Keep it up, it makes reading this site much more pleasant. (Not saying you have to love everything, but you guys tend to mock pretty much everything.)

Nolan is brilliant....but supporting that Batman voice was STUPID.

If you have the vaguest understanding of the Batman history you'd first have to take this asinine gripe up with Batman The Animated Series' Kevin Conroy.

Yes...disguising your voice from your normal tone so nobody can recognize it and figure out who you are is very stupid.

What's stupid is the constant nitpicking people have done to the trilogy to try to diminish it instead of just enjoying it.
