"I saw 'The Exorcist' by myself when I was way too young," former "Doctor Who" star Karen Gillan told Yahoo. But that hasn't kept the actress from the genre, and she takes the lead in the upcoming "Oculus," with the horror flick making some buzz last year at TIFF, where it nabbed the runner up prize for the Midnight Madness People's Choice Award. And now you can get a sense of what captured the attention of audiences last fall.
Co-starring Brenton Thwaites, Rory Cochrane and Katee Sackhoff, and directed by Mike Flanagan, the story follows siblings Tim and Kaylie, who must deal with a malevolent supernatural force unleashed through a mirror in their childhood home. On top of that, Kaylie wants to clear her brother's name of the murder of their parents when they were kids. Needless, shit gets weird and real, very fast. It's a tantalizing tease and with spot evoking the names of "Paranormal Activity" and "Insidious," the studio knows the audience it wants.
"Oculus" opens on April 11th. Watch below.
