Review: 'The Immigrant'"Drifting" is helmed by Luna and marks his English language directorial debut. The story centers on three old friends and a surprise visit before one in the trio’s impending marriage. Previous directing credits for Luna include “J.C. Chavez,” a documentary about the famous Mexican boxer, and “Abel,” a drama that showed at Sundance and was generally well-received. His next feature will be his highest-profile project yet -- “Chavez,” a biopic of civil rights leader Cesar Chavez starring Rosario Dawson and Michael Pena, which we'd guess will pop up on the festival circuit this year.
But "Drifting" looks a bit of fun, and likely allowed Luna to be a bit more loose and playful behind the camera. If you dig what you see below, look out for Bernal’s follow-up, to be released on February 18th.
