Beauty And The Beast

There is nothing small about Christoph Gans' upcoming fairy tale flick "Beauty And The Beast." Not only is the French blockbuster gearing up for release in just a couple of weeks, it will also be touching down at the Berlin Film Festival where the filmmakers are hoping it will make a splash with international buyers and, of course, critics. And in advance of both those events, a fresh trailer has landed online.

If previous looks at the movie were perhaps a bit precious, this one aims right for epic territory, with leads Vincent Cassel and Lea Seydoux surrounded by CGI creatures, lots of effects wizardry, bold costumes and much more. If folks were feeling the lack of Christoph Gans' presence in previous spots, that seems to rectified here, though he's still clearly playing for a much more mainstream crowd. Regardless, given the cast and budget he's been allowed to work with, we're still pretty curious to see the results.

"Beauty And The Beast" opens in France on February 12th. Watch below (sorry, no subs, but you can still get a very good sense of the film regardless).

A year ago before I knew if this projects existence, I told a friend it would be cool if Guellimo Del Toro made a live action Beauty and the Beast. And now we have this. Guess it's the next best thing.
