White Bird In A Blizzard

Who is left to guide you if your parents disappear? That seems to be the central question of the latest from Gregg Araki, "White Bird In A Blizzard," with the first teaser trailer arriving and promising a slightly more surreal take on the traditional coming-of-age story.

Rounding up an intriguing cast including Shailene Woodley, Eva Green, Christopher Meloni, Shiloh Fernandez, Gabourey Sidibe and Thomas Jane, this one is rolling into the Sundance Film Festival next month, certainly with a bit of shine on it thanks to this spot. But as always the distance between marketing and the actual film can vary, so we'll see how it shapes up. Here's the official synopsis:

Based on the acclaimed novel by Laura Kasischke, White Bird in a Blizzard tells the story of Kat Connors, a young woman whose life is turned upside down by the sudden disappearance of her beautiful, enigmatic mother.

Sorry, no distributor or release dates yet.

I can't wait to see this! I hope it's as good as 'Mysterious Skin'!

Agree with you, Araki has made some really good films, even Happy Face is noteworthy.

What is that song used in the trailer? It's hideous/gorgeous.

@ Tito - Thanks. I really should have known that. My 80's goth credit just took a nosedive. But it does explain why I was so enthralled...

Eva Green is gorgeous. Even when they try to make her look plain and "depressed." She's only 33 and Woodley is 22. Hard to buy Green as her mother. But whatev.
