Nymphomaniac Trailer

Blood, fire, sex, spanking, tears, screaming, nudity, fucking ... yep, it's the full-length trailer for Lars von Trier's "Nymphomaniac" and yes, it's just as outrageous as you might have guessed.

Obviously NSFW, the most interesting thing about the trailer—aside from the always beautiful looking footage that von Trier tends to go for—are the aesthetic details, notably the shifting aspect ratios throughout. There's a switch up between black-and-white and color as well, with the director using the lengthy runtime to try out a variety of camera tricks (including split screen). While Charlotte Gainsbourg plays the lead, the sex-addicted Joe, the trailer seems to focus equally on Stacy Martin, the younger version of the character, and we'd reckon she's getting just as much screentime.

Meanwhile, Cannes head Thierry Fremaux, speaking at Film Bazaar in Goa, India, addressed rumors of von Trier's five-and-a-half-hour director's cut of the film playing the festival. He noted "Nymphomaniac" wouldn't be eligible to play in competition, though an out of competition placement isn't out of the question, while the director himself is certainly welcome back. “That controversy was as stupid as what Lars said,” Fremaux said (via THR). “I told him that he made a bad joke, but that the controversy was unfair.”

Anyway, watch the full trailer below. "Nymphomaniac" arrives on Christmas Day in Denmark and Norway, and opens in France in January. No U.S. date yet.

YouTube pulled the trailer from the official "Nymphomaniac" trailer. Here's a Vimeo version and a trailer addict one in case the high-quality Vimeo version also gets pulled.
