Started by Neil Burger, and continued by Robert Schwentke, Lionsgate will need a new director to close out the YA franchise. While Schwentke was originally slated to direct the series all the way to the finale, Deadline reports he has bowed out of "Ascendant," looking to take a break. And who can blame the guy? "Allegiant" opens next month, and then just over a year later, "Ascendant" is slated to hit cinemas. So while the studio looks for a new helmer, the marketing on "Allegiant" continues, and a new trailer has arrived.
Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Naomi Watts, Octavia Spencer, Ray Stevenson, Zoe Kravitz, Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Maggie Q, Jeff Daniels and Kate Winslet make up the roster of actors, that will have the story extending beyond the walls. Here's the official synopsis:
The third installment of the blockbuster Divergent series franchise, ALLEGIANT takes Tris [Shailene Woodley] and Four [Theo James] into a new world, far more dangerous than ever before. After the earth-shattering revelations of INSURGENT, Tris must escape with Four and go beyond the wall enclosing Chicago. For the first time ever, they will leave the only city and family they have ever known. Once outside, old discoveries are quickly rendered meaningless with the revelation of shocking new truths. Tris and Four must quickly decide who they can trust as a ruthless battle ignites beyond the walls of Chicago which threatens all of humanity.
