Though he declined to helm the follow-up to his hugely successful “Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes,” Rupert Wyatt hasn’t been exactly resting on his laurels, instead opting to help launch AMC’s newest series, “Turn.” While a brief teaser surfaced last month, the week brings a full-length trailer for the show which features a Wyatt-directed pilot.
Set during the summer of 1778 and based on Alexander Rose’s “Washington Spies,” the show will focus on Jamie Bell as a farmer who forms America’s first spy ring to infiltrate the British. The two minute trailer makes the show seem more “The Patriot” and less History Channel special, i.e. less stuffy than the logline suggested. If Wyatt can bring the same deft touch he brought to the “Planet Of The Apes” reboot, you can bet we’ll be watching.
“Turn” premieres on AMC on April 6th. Watch the trailer below.
