Starting out called simply "The Muppets 2," then "Muppets...Again!" and now having finally settled on "Muppets Most Wanted," Disney can now start the proper marketing wheels on their felt covered sequel and today brings with it the first teaser trailer.
As it usually goes with sequels, the stakes have been raised and the locations have become more international. Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, The Great Gonzo and Animal now find themselves trotting around London, Berlin and Madrid all while caught up in caper of worldwide intrigue. Human faces like Tina Fey, Ricky Gervais and Ty Burrell also pop into the frame with James Bobin and Nicholas Stoller reprising their director and writer roles (though sorry, no Jason Segel or Amy Adams this time). Here's the official synopsis:
Disney’s “Muppets Most Wanted” takes the entire Muppets gang on a global tour, selling out grand theaters in some of Europe’s most exciting destinations, including Berlin, Madrid and London. But mayhem follows the Muppets overseas, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine—the World’s Number One Criminal and a dead ringer for Kermit—and his dastardly sidekick Dominic, aka Number Two, portrayed by Ricky Gervais. The film stars Tina Fey as Nadya, a feisty prison guard, and Ty Burrell as Interpol agent Jean Pierre Napoleon.
"Muppets Most Wanted" arrives on March 21, 2014. Watch below.
