He's got numerous Emmys, a Grammy, and a Peabody award to his name, among many other accolades. So will Jon Stewart put an Oscar on his mantle come next year? Well, "The Daily Show" host is going to try. The first trailer for "Rosewater" is here, and you can see for yourself if he's got the right stuff.
Gael Garcia Bernal and Shohreh Aghdashloo star in the true story of Iranian/Canadian journalist Maziar Bahari, who was arrested following the 2009 election protests in Iran and spent 118 days in jail. While detained, he was harshly interrogated and forced to confess to a number of crimes. It's a tale that fits right into the kind of topics Stewart talks about every week on his show —injustice, freedom of the press, democracy— but obviously with a much more sober approach.
Are we looking at an Oscar contender? Let us know below. "Rosewater" opens on November 7th, and we'll have a review from the world premiere in Telluride over the weekend.
