With CG-animated blockbuster "How To Train Your Dragon 2" landing in theaters this week, it's not surprising that it seems to be cartoon week in the animation world. Only minutes ago, we had the trailer for DreamWorks Animation's "The Penguins Of Madagascar," and now, one of its fall rivals has also debuted a new trailer in the shape of Laika's "The Boxtrolls."
The Portland-based studio have made two of the more distinctive and rewarding animated tales of the last few years with "Coraline" and "ParaNorman," and are sticking to their slightly eerie stop-motion tale, which follows a young boy (Isaac Hempstead Wright, best known as Bran from "Game Of Thrones"), who's raised by the strange creatures of the title, only to come back into contact with the world above to stop the evil Archibald Snatcher (Ben Kingsley) from capturing his friends.
The excellent cast also includes Elle Fanning, Toni Collette, Jared Harris, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Richard Ayoade, and the new promo gives the most expansive and detailed look at the film yet. As is becoming par for the course with Laika, it looks gorgeous, and all being well, it'll have the heart and soul of its predecessors too. Check out the trailer below, courtesy of Yahoo, and you can catch the film in theaters from September 26th.
