Watch: 'JawZilla,' The 'Godzilla' And 'Jaws' Trailer Mashup You've Been Waiting For

We are just under two weeks away from the new “Godzilla” movie coming out in theaters worldwide and, despite being released in the same month as “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” and “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” this seems to be the movie people are most excited about. A big reason for that has been the film’s buzzworthy trailers. But, as you might expect, it was only a matter of time before someone on the Internet made some sort of “Godzilla” parody. One fan, in particular, had the nifty idea of mashing up sounds from the “Godzilla” trailer with images from the blockbuster classic “Jaws”—and the results are pretty entertaining.

Using the score from “Godzilla” as well as snippets of dialogue, the person behind the trailer mashup cleverly points out all the similarities between the two films. You have the character hellbent on uncovering the truth, the government shamelessly hiding something from the general public, and of course, the giant creature wreaking havoc on everybody. When you think about it, these is all pretty standard monster movie tropes. So, really, it’s not surprising that these movies are so similar to each other. We can only hope this new “Godzilla” movie can stand the test of time, much like “Jaws” has for the past 40 years. But frankly, if it manages to be better than the 1998 “Godzilla,” that should be good enough.

At any rate, you can bet the SyFy channel is already trying to turn “JawZilla” into an actual movie. It’s only a matter of time. “Godzilla” comes out nationwide on May 16th. Check out the mashup below. [via Reddit]
