While we ponder the horror script that David O. Russell wrote that Eli Roth might direct, the good news is that we've already got a new movie from the filmmaker coming our way. "American Hustle" is one of the hottest tickets left of the year yet to be seen by critics (alongside Martin Scorsese's "The Wolf Of Wall Street") but the curtain is slowly lifting, as we now have our first clip from the film.

And no surprise, it features Jennifer Lawrence, who happens to have a little movie coming out next week called "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire." The scene takes us back to the days of the 1970s when microwaves were still something new, and Lawrence's character—probably too busy scheming with her husband Christian Bale to learn how to operate the damn thing—makes some rookie mistakes in trying to cook with the appliance. And of course, it doesn't end well.

It's a neat little snapshot look at the movie which you'll be able to see in full on December 18th. Watch below. [MTV]

Lawrence's accent is all over the place, and she seems out of it more than in it.

This comments section is a bunch of grouches who consider themselves pros on how accents should or should not sound. I think she looks (AND sounds) amazing.

Yeah, I seriously love Jennifer Lawrence, but that accent isn't great. I suppose it's not the be-all and end-all, but still. The film looks amazing, though.

I loved "Silver Linings" and have really been looking forward to this, but this clip does not make the movie look very good. Lawrence's accent is all over the place and I am getting the impression that we are supposed to be laughing at these two because they are broad, cartoon-y idiots , and not because they do or say actual funny things. "Silver Linings" had some strange characters, but you never got the impression they were being trotted out with all their eccentricities for an easy laugh.

But that's what this looks like.

This leads me to the rather worrisome conclusion that the reason we haven't seen this picture springing up at the usual festivals and pre-Oscar word-of-mouth screenings is because they are hiding it.

The video is saying I need to verify my date of birth. So I put in the date, and it says it's incorrect. What the hell?

Her "accent" is a joke. She cant hold it together.

The age difference between Bale and Lawrence doesn't bother me. My parents have a large age gap so its not like this is an impossible scenario in real life.

This clip really made me laugh! I hope Jennifer gets a supporting actress nom this year.

The age difference really bothers me. In SLP the difference between bradley and jenn wasnt that big but gosh.. She looks like bales daughter...

She looks like shes playing dress up. Please give her age appropiate (at least realistic) roles. Plus she cant pull off the accent. But of course she will get another oscAr nom for that because it basically the same role she played in silver linings.

She spends more time out of the accent than in it

She is brilliant! You can not deny her talent and timing. So many actresses would have F'd that scene up!
