10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesThe latest has Tom Hiddleston aka Loki and Samuel L. Jackson aka Nick Fury (wearing a Bluetooth earpiece?) talking to each other and explaining in some very heavy-handed dialogue how they feel about each other. And in case you haven't guessed, they don't like each other. Meanwhile, the rest of the Avengers look on from their high tech workstations. This is like the Marvel equivalent of "The I.T. Crowd" (or something). All this said, of all the villains in the Marvel movies, Hiddleston has been the most fun since he's striking the right tone between reverence and being aware he's in a comic book movie. Anyway, "The Avengers" opens on May 4th. Watch below.

This is amazing. Tom Hiddleston is a fantastic actor. This is awesome, and I hear it's his most underwhelming scene. Can you imagine what the rest of the movie must be like?!

It has a 9.5 on imdb right now. Wonder if it will try to go number one like Dark Knight tried?

I;ve read that the film is very funny but all the clips I've seen show suggest they are all taking it far too seriously.Lots of posing and strutting. Hiddleston lacks power in his voice. He's playing the role as if its a Shakespearean character but the script just makes him look silly.

I get that not everyone is going to enjoy The Avengers, and I get that there are those that will be unabashedly biased (one way or the other) because of Marvel and/or Joss Whedon's involvement, but seriously?
The last few articles on The Avengers just SCREAM of blistering contempt. Seems like you're working overtime to put the "anal" in critical analysis.
